Nebraska-Michigan State called off, Seniors still honored

By News Feb 27, 2021 | 1:43 PM

Less than an hour before tip Saturday, the Nebraska-Michigan State women’s basketball game was called off “based on the advice from institutional medical staffs.”

“Obviously, we are disappointed that we were not able to play our final home game of the season at Pinnacle Bank Arena today. All of our players and coaches were excited to play and hopefully send Kate Cain off with one more home win on Senior Day. While we are extremely disappointed that we were not able to compete today, our post-game ceremony honoring Kate and Taylor Kissinger was still a fitting tribute to their careers and their time here as Huskers. We were glad we were able to recognize their contributions to our program.

“We will move forward and hopefully have a chance to reschedule our game with Michigan State, but if not, we will get ready for our final regular-season game at Iowa on Saturday.”

Cain and Kissinger, along with student managers Christian Eisenhauer and Trevor Bogle and graduate manager Kristina Bayton, were still honored with frames of their time at Nebraska.

Kissinger announced the end of her playing career in September after multiple injuries, but she has remained with the team.

Cain is the all-time leading shot blocker in Nebraska program history.

Nebraska is next scheduled to play Saturday at Iowa.
