The Huskers had the Wildcats’ number this season.

Nebraska (10-9, 8-8 Big Ten) swept the season series, beating then No. 15 Northwestern (11-5, 9-5 Big Ten) by two in December then grabbing a 71-64 win Wednesday in Evanston over the now No. 24 ranked team.

The win was far from easy, as the Wildcats led by as much as 14 in the first half. The Huskers trailed by nine at halftime, then cut that deficit to just four going into the final frame.

That’s when the Husker offense exploded.

Kate Cain scored 10 of her game-high 22 points in the fourth quarter, as Nebraska erupted for 31 points. The Huskers shot 50 percent from the floor in the final quarter and took advantage of the free throw line, going 14-of-15 to take the victory.

Cain was a perfect 7-for-7 from the field on the night, adding eight rebounds.

Isabelle Bourne had her best game since returning from an ankle injury. The Australian sophomore scored 21 points and pulled in a career-high 17 rebounds.

The Huskers return home Sunday to host Penn State.
