Dumbass Of The Day: Australian Lockdown

By News Nov 24, 2020 | 12:03 PM

We are hearing about lockdowns in various ways. From closing of businesses to proving you had a COVID test to enter a city or state, to police enforced stay-at-home laws from all over the world. Here is one that has to be the biggest Lockdown blunder of the pandemic.

Regardless of your opinion of COVID tracing, counties, states and local municipalities are using the information they gather to stem the rate of infection from person to person.

One guy in Australia lie about how he was infected, led to a total lockdown of 1.7 million people for six-days.

The story goes like this:

A guy pop’s positive for the ‘Rona and tell’s the health authorities that he got it from a pizza place where he grabbed some take-out. He told the tracers that he had only been in the place for a minute to get his food and go. The health department then were extremely concerned, as from his story, an extremely dangerous strain of the virus was in the area of Adelaide. So dangerous that it could transmit person to person in seconds with a mask on.

In their haste, the state of South Australia put into place a mandatory lockdown that forced EVERYONE to stay at home. This included masks only IF you were allowed to leave for groceries or medicine. The lockdown was so strict that you were not even allowed to go out and walk your dog or exercise outside.

Whelp…the COVID-positive guy didn’t tell the health department the truth. As a matter of fact, it was a small lie of epic proportions.

Seems as though the guy WAS at the pizza place, but not to get food. He was MAKING the food, as he worked there for a full shift.

Once the truth was found (after 3 days of the lockdown), everyone could go about their daily lives, but there is a bit of egg on everyone’s face here. Australia’s Premier Steven Marshall said

“We are absolutely livid with the actions of this individual and we will be looking very carefully at what consequences there (are) going to be.”

In the meantime, the unnamed liar is being held in a hotel to ride out the virus. His lawyer says

“He is extremely remorseful and deeply sorry for any part he played in any unnecessary lockdown actions,”

I am sure 1.7 million people will be quick to accept that apology.
