Dumbass Of The Day: We Now Know Who Flunked The Bar Exam

By News Oct 19, 2020 | 11:23 AM

Sure, I went to college and graduated. End of story for me, I graduated. That’s it, I graduated. I didn’t fail. I didn’t make the Dean’s list.

However, I know a number of people who did make the list and a number of people who are lawyers. So, not only did they have to pass their classes, they had to pass the Bar Exam, which is quite hard, from what I am told.

Suffice to say, I have never taken the Bar Exam. Quite frankly, that takes a set of brain cells that I don’t have…that is why I am in radio.

The cool thing is about some professors, they like to give props and high-fives to students who deserve recognition.

So what’s the point here? Sometime some people do dumb things by accident. Dean William Hubbard of the University of South Carolina Law School did something dumb. He passed along the scores of everyone who took the Bar. He was so proud to tell everyone that 82% of his class passes…though that meant 18% did not…and now everyone know, not only those who passed, but also those who did not.

Unfortunately, Dean Hubbard forward the email he got from the testing center for the bar exam to everyone in the class and department. This email had the names AND grade of everyone who took the test.

BTW, passing along that info is illegal, so the dean was probably pinching off pink Twinkies when he realized his error. He quickly fired off an email to his students

“Please delete the message I just sent about bar passage. It was sent with the wrong attachment for which I am very sorry. Please do not open and, if opened, do not reveal any information in that attachment to anyone.”

The good part for the dean is that he wasn’t fired…Good thing too, as he is 68 and probably preparing for his retirement at some point.
